Week 6: Visual Designs

Here are a sample of the design processes we have been through in the development of the visual interface for Chromaroma.
These first 2 are really experiments with how to visualise things on the London Underground network. The last one feels a lot like a Kandinsky as it explodes into abstraction.

Here are some more developed designs which address diferent aspects of data representation:

Players Journeys

A player journey and station stats.

Larger granular data such as number of players through stations could be represented as heat maps as above.

Or it could be represented as peaks where the colour of the team that owns the station is the colour of the peak, and the height is defined by numbers through.

Or as voxel terrain map.

ONE FEEDBACK

  1. The perspective-based graphics look odd, IMO. I think people are used to seeing the tube map in a top-down view. Maybe you could just adjust the angle up a bit… (this is all a bit reminiscent of the debate over the new weather map on the BBC)
